The banking sector, a design system, 80 designers, 300 developers, that is a normal day at the office. Creating a design system for the Africa’s largest bank has come with some unique challenges.

I started the Standard Bank Design System back in 2015 and I have managed to take it from a simple PDF style guide into a full, cross platform, component based design system that allows us not only to design and build products more efficiently but also evolve the product holistically multiple times a year.

The design system has been a collaboration with many talented designers and engineers and it’s been incredible to see what we have accomplished together.
